Danville, Indiana, Visit Hendricks County (VHC) is hiring a Director of Marketing Strategy to serve as the Chief Marketing Officer of the official destination management organization for Hendricks County, IN. This position researches, develops, creates and implements the planning, direction, and review of all marketing, communications, sales and public relations activities of VHC. They will serve on the leadership team of VHC working alongside other internal departments to create and implement a strategic vision and support the organizational goals.

Develop and maintain a culture of data-driven decision making while leading the marketing, sales, communication and public relations initiatives of the organization.
Evaluate the impact of marketing, sales, communications and public relations initiatives through predetermined Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). Monitor metrics and progress toward goals and ensure team members maintain their reporting mechanisms.
Manage, implement and be accountable for the continuity of the visual identity of the destination and corporate brand in all communications. Ensure the visual creatives actively convey the message, a call to action, are easy to understand and communicate the identified goals.
Manage, external contractors which includes an advertising/creative agency, research agency, website/digital marketing agency, marketing analytics platforms, media monitoring platforms, digital asset management platforms, CMS, CRM, and digital advertising, lead generation and digital marketing channels.
Present and/or prepare data reports for presentations at public speaking engagements in the community, for the tourism industry and through educational opportunities.


Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university in a related field such as Business, Marketing, Hospitality, Tourism, or Data Science
At least five (5) years of experience in a related position; with two plus (2+) years of supervisory experience, working with Board of Directors, and managing outside contractors
Previous experience with a destination marketing organization preferred
Previous experience with a marketing budget of over $500,000 preferred
Skills and abilities in personnel management, value assessment (ROI), cooperation, advocacy, budget management, complex problem solving and collaboration
Knowledge of office software particularly MS Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat
Knowledge of specialized industry software such as SimpleView, Adobe Creative Suite, Google Analytics, Client Relationship Management (CRM) and Digital Asset Management Software
