WRAL Capital Area Career Expo Reflects Where Needs Are –

Raleigh, NC, August 10, 2017 – The Capital Area Workforce Development Board (CAWD) is hosting
the WRAL Capital Area Career Expo on August 10th at NC State’s McKimmon Center from
10:00 am to 2:00 pm. Over 60 employers will be present and combined have over 3000 jobs to
fill. Many are in high-growth industries with occupations that are difficult to fill.

“It’s interesting that we have even more construction and engineering companies signed up
this year, but not surprising considering the amount housing and commercial projects we have
all seen with our own eyes. They are trying to keep their talent pipeline full and our job is to
help them. This event is not just for job seekers, but also those who are currently employed
and thinking about a change. When they come here, they can investigate multiple career
opportunities and companies in one place,” said Pat Sturdivant, Executive Director of Capital
Area Workforce Development Board.

Unemployment in May was 3.7%, the lowest Capital Area has seen since July 2000, but this
still represents approximately 25,000 people. In addition to meeting recruiters, job seekers can
also ask questions to a panel of HR representatives during the feature workshop.
Recruiters representing healthcare, information technology, retail, social services, law
enforcement, and many others will be present. A full list of employers and more information is
available at
